FOOD SAFETY ALIVE A NEW INITIATIVE FOR RAI MEMBERS

The Restaurants Association of Ireland announces details of a new initiative called "Food Safety Alive" for its members, in association with JohnsonDiversey and EduCater. The Food Safety Alive programme will be available from the end of March. It will empower RAI members to have safe kitchens and competent staff producing safe food for its customers. The initiative offers members a food safety-training programme for the in-house training of staff in line with legislation and reflective of current Irish food safety training standards.

Members who commit to the initiative will be presented with the in-house food safety-training programme at no charge linked to volume pricing on JohnsonDiversey Products. Following the delivery of this programme in-house, further steps to ensure an ongoing food safety culture, which incur a small charge, will include competency certificates for staff, Food Safety Alive Training in Practice File, an independent audit carried out be EduCater and the awarding the Food Safety Alive Commitment to Food Safety Training Seal.

The EduCater Food Safety Training Programme for Induction Level training, is a complete in-house training tool designed to guide the restaurateur /in-house trainer / chef to deliver a step-by-step training programme which includes trainer notes, presentation slides, quizzes, and ways of linking training to the food area. It is a highly visual programme, which is ideal for staff with learning difficulties and language barriers. There are training records supplied and EduCater can when requested, provide the restaurant with assistance on the in-house use of the training programme and related food safety issues.

Speaking about the new initiative, Mr Henry O’Neill, Chief Executive, Restaurants Association of Ireland said; "We are constantly looking for new ways to supply services that will assist our members in their businesses. Food safety training is a legal requirement for restaurants and can be costly to any business. We are delighted to introduce this very important EduCater programme for our members in association with JohnsonDiversey and strongly urge our members to consider availing of this service".
